🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Cerebral Horror Merging Silent Hill with Social Deduction Mechanics The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled a number of fascinating upcoming titles, but one especially has seized attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure seems to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "It's a distinctive game where a girl containing multiple personalities inside her must escape from a labyrinth of the psyche," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of high school age. Within her reside four separate souls, all possessing unique fears and motivations. These souls can seize control at will, releasing their innermost terrors upon her without warning. Judging by showcased footage, much of the action unfolds within a eerie hospital, though additional clips show the protagonist exploring a abandoned chapel. A World of Personal Horror "What makes you fearful of? What causes you uneasy?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Things that appear minor to others can activate something primal inside us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are unique to every individual." The central mechanic revolves around managing the persona that emerges at any given moment. However, these identities will switch against your will during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist one after another. As the persona changes, so does the specific fear the player encounters. Unsettling Visuals and a Deadly Decision At first glance, UN:Me shares noticeable aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is filled with orderlies all sporting the identical visage, with disturbingly broad smiles. Patients in the lobby have large flowers growing from their heads are. Floral motifs are a recurring theme, juxtaposing natural beauty with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique mechanic. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four souls haunting the heroine is the "real" one. "Each of the souls claims that the body is rightfully them," notes a developer. "Throughout the game, you need to figure out who is authentic." Once players have deduced a soul is fake, they are forced to destroy it. But, because every entity can deceive or hide the truth, it is very easy to make a mistake. "Maybe you've already eliminated the real [soul] with your own hands," a voice states. "The final entity standing could be a fraud. Either way, your choices are final." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced launch window, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
