Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. The first three producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to set up production lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

The drones utilize a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in combat and proved effective “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and many others injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Numerous of additional structures were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday after the embassy damage. Russia intends to produce up to 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, among them 500 of a new, longer-range version that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Moscow's military were firing hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with the previous month's average daily usage standing at approximately 170, based on defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Attacks Focus on Moscow's Oil Facilities

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports on Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.

International Restrictions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers concerning its foreign assets following last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced after the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
