Jurgen Klopp says a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: ā€œI declared I will never coach another team within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.ā€

ā€œAt 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine in a few years, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.ā€

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances must arise to bring him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. ā€œI'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,ā€ he said. ā€œI don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.

ā€œThe locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.ā€

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the idea it could be a decline.

ā€œ[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.ā€

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact at the club. The forward was killed in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

ā€œHow do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is not easy. Unbearable.ā€
