Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The team running the project have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
